Hand in Hand Members' Stories:
Chad

My name is Raymond Djimasbé Ngarboui. I am a refugee
of war from Chad and I arrived in Winnipeg, Canada, in
September 2006. After completing my education in agriculture
in 1995, I worked as a counselor with the Chad Rural Development
National Board and with the Chad Cotton Society as a trainer and
Community Development Agent until the year 2000.
Because of the war, I was forced to leave my country in 2000 and seek
refuge in Cameroon, where I spent five years in a refugee camp. After
arriving in Winnipeg, Canada, I joined Hand in Hand for Peace, so that
I could contribute toward peace and raising awareness of what
refugees experience. Together we can try to restore hope, peace and
life to those who experience human rights violations.
Congo
My name is Marcelin Chematsi. I am a refugee of war from
Congo. My wife, Rebecca Mbombo Kalonji, and I are living
now in a refugee camp in Zimbabwe where I am awaiting
government recognition of my status as refuge since 2006.
After completing my education in science bio - medicine in 2003,
I have worked as a medical assistant at Clinic Universitaire, language
translator at Marco Integrated Ltd., a Diamond Broker at Altitude
Internation Ltd., and a peace activist with Initiative de Paix in Ituri.
After finding out about Hand in Hand for Peace, we decided to join
the organization even though we are not living in Winnipeg, Canada.
